Care for Others and Your
Career will Care for Itself
The health
care industry is the fastest growing sector of the US economy. The
shortage of qualified nurses in the past few years, coupled with the
aging population in the US, means that career opportunities in health
care are better than ever. There were approximately 2.2 million
nursing jobs in the US in 2000, and employment of registered nurses is
expected to grow consistently through to 2010. This means jobs now and
also a future of career opportunities for anyone training to be a
health care professional. If your current career path is leaving you
cold, or if you’re looking a more inspiring choice of further
education, why not look into a career in a caring profession?
Training programs are available in many formats, including online, so
the knowledge and skills required to begin a career as a health career
professional have never been so accessible.
A career in
nursing presents challenges and opportunities that few other careers
can offer. In nursing, every day brings a new situation. The knowledge
that your work makes a real difference to people’s lives brings a job
satisfaction that is hard to match. Sixty percent of
registered nurses are hospital based. Others work in health care
facilities such as physicians’ clinics and nursing homes, or for home
health care agencies. There are a variety of ways in which
registered nurses can employ their skills. An added bonus is that
caring for others doesn’t need to be to your own detriment – the
median salary for a registered nurse during 2000 was a little over
$44,000, with highest earners taking home over $64,000. Salaries are
rising as the need to staff the growing health care industry
increases. For a career in an in-demand, rewarding and highly regarded
profession, the right Nursing program will set you on your way.
